Keyboard Selector applet for AWN

I just saw in this thread today that this applet has now been updated such that clicking it in the dock changes the keyboard layout. This works perfectly for me in Ubuntu Hardy on the EeePC 901 although I can only get it to accept a maximum of two layouts in the toggle list.
Then I tried it in Ubuntu Intrepid on the MacBook and couldn't get it to work at all.
