I had quite some problems making the ntfs partition on the Philips usb HDD accessible by normal user from Arch.
I had tried everything I could think of to get the ownership changed from root to me but nothing worked.
So, once again the Arch forum came to my rescue here.
Seems you cannot change ownership UNLESS the folder is mounted as rw whereas mine was ro.
As far as I know, ntfs partitions can only be mounted as ro in Linux unless you use ntfs-3g. So, I downloaded this from pacman and installed it.
Then set up /etc/fstab again but this time with ntfs-3g as the fs rtaher than just ntfs.
Now, everything came right nd I finally have music in Arch.
