I wrote yesterday about this problem.
The Arch foprum resolved the problem for me here
I tried this one
export XAUTHORITY=/home/non-root-usersname/.Xauthority
and this worked fine.
The guy that answered me then set up a wiki page as this is a common quetsion.
Actually, there is another way too which is
ln -s /home/paul/.Xauthority /root/.Xauthority
Also, I believe that "sux" should do the job but I'm not quite sure if sux works in ArchLinux although I did see one reference to it in the forums.
