How to pick correct Opera version to download

I had a bit of a problem today where I tried to install Opera 9.50 Beta in FreeBSD 6.3 but it wouldn't install.
It seems I had downloaded the incorrect version.
In fact I was unaware of the differences between the various versions available of the snapshots but it's all explained here.
