OK, now I've got applets in AWN and it wasn't that difficult.
What I did was to first do:
# apt-cache search awn-extras
which gave me about 7 apps/dependencies as follows:
awn-applets-c-core - A collection of applets for avant-window-navigator
awn-applets-c-extras - A collection of applets for avant-window-navigator
awn-applets-python-core - A collection of applets for avant-window-navigator
awn-applets-python-extras - A collection of applets for avant-window-navigator
libawn-extras-dev - library for avant-window-navigator's applets - development files
libawn-extras0 - A library for avant-window-navigator's applets
python-awn-extras - Python bindings for avant-window-navigator's applets
I installed them all using
apt-get install
After almost every install, some more applets appeared in awn-manager.
Strangely though some of them just have the "generic" icon which is quite ugly. Furthermore, some of my favourite applets don't work here such as the email applet and the volume control applet. However, the Last.fm applet does work well so that's great.
