After getting this to work yesterday in Foresight on the Dell, I tried a more streamlined install in my newly updated Foresight on the MacBook.
So, before starting with the yakuake (2.8.1) compile, I installed
Group-kdebase
Group-kde-devel
libfam-devel
Then I compiled and installed yakuake.
Before running it, I installed
kdelibs:runtime=3.5.9-1-1
Now yakuake works perfectly.
