Today after re-installing Gutsy on the desktop (having failed to get Hardy working), I kept getting an error message whether I tried to install awn (bzr) from the Gutsy repos (Synaptic) or from this guide, I got this error:
avant-window-navigator-bzr:
Depends: libawn-bzr but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libpango1.0-0 (>=1.18.3) but 1.18.2-0ubuntu1 is to be installed
Depends: libawn-bzr but it is not going to be installed
Although it took me a long time to find it, the solution is easy (isn't it always?) and is as follows:
Open Synaptic (System, Administration, Synaptic Package Manager)
Enable the Recommended Updates (Settings, Repositories, Select the Updates tab, check the box in "Recommended Updates (gutsy-updates)", click Close)
Reload your package information (Ctrl+R)
The complete thread is here.
