After the problems I had, how did i do this?
Actually, I still have no clue as to why Kurumin 7 refused to boot, or indeed even look like it was at all interested in booting.
So, I downloaded Kurumin-NG_8.06, installed it on Philips HDD (sdb15=/, sdb1=/home), made the appropriate adjustments to /boot/grub/menu.lst and /boot/kurumin in Ubuntu. This worked fine, no problems at all
At this stage, other than the fact that it's in Portuguese, Kurumin 8.06 looks extremely similar to Ubuntu (but with kde).
A problem it inherited from Kurumin 7 is that it's not at all easy to get a 1280x1024 screen resolution.
