Webcam video recording in Ubuntu Eee

I mentioned yesterday that Cheese works very well (photo and video) as long as you don't want sound. The quality of the sound recorded in the video is extremely poor so that it's essentially unusable.
(In googling around it seems it may just be that Cheese doesn't support the webcam's built-in microphone. Tomorrow I'll try my headset)
On the other hand, wxcam works well and is available as a deb.
To get sound to work, you must open the app (Applications>>Sound & Video>>Webcam Application) and then open Settings>>Preferences>>Video and choose Xvid for recording compression. Also make sure that the box Enable audio recording is checked.
